Till this day, I still remember a goal I had scored during my days in Manchester United. It was one of my first matches for the club and I wanted to show what I was really made of. It was an important match against our rival club, Liverpool. I was extremely nervous but yet excited. I really wanted to score a goal that would win the match for us. I wanted to score a goal that would bring fame and glory to the name, "David Beckham". I trained extremely hard for that particular match.
When that day finally came, I felt prepared. I felt that I, David Beckham, was going to score a goal. As the players gathered in the field, I said a silent prayer. Before I knew it, the game had commenced. I was the the midfielder and faced a brilliant defender, Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool legend.
During the last few minutes of the game, the score was still 0-0. I had not scored yet even though I had a few oppurtunities. Liverpool's Jamie Carragher proved to be too good! However I did not give up. I was going to score. I knew it. All it needed to win the match was a goal now. I could win the match.
On the last minute of the game, a long ball was sent to my team's striker. He was being marked by Jamie Carragher and had troubles shooting. Jamie Carragher managed to tackle him down. However the ball landed right at my feet. I was unmarked and knew exactly what to do. I took a deep breath to steady myself. In my mind I marked the spot I would send the ball flying at. I powered up my shot and sent my leg swinging at the ball as hard as I could. I sent it curling to the top corner of the goalpost, out of the reach of the Goalkeeper. Goal! Words could not describe my feelings. I Threw myself to the ground. I was pounced on by my fellow team mates. I was in the bring of tears.
That was the start of my football career. My life. The name "David Beckham" became a legend.
